Going away can mean that you find yourself out of your routine (how wonderful!) But after a few days of no exercise, less sleep and fine dining you may start feeling a little naar. Here is a great holiday workout and some tips to get you there.

Here is an Express Holiday Workout that will get the blood pumping and make you feel a little more jolly! What's not to love here, right?

plank for 30 seconds

20 jumping jacks (hands clap above head)

plank for 30 seconds

20 burpees

plank for 30 seconds

20 squats

plank for 30 seconds

20 kicks

plank for 30 seconds

20 jumps with rope

5 minute break

Repeat this series until you have done 3 complete cycles.

Tips!

  • Plan as many active holiday outings as possible - think about cool tourist attractions you could walk to, hire bikes for the day, climb a mountain or go out dancing. Staying fit and strong can be part of your holiday itinerary.
  • Change up holiday traditions to improve your health - how about holding back on the turkey and using the left overs for a delicious cold Boxing Day lunch? Or why not schedule the meal a little earlier so you are not starving by dinner and your food has a chance to digest before bedtime?
  • Schedule your workouts like you schedule your family visits - Knowing that you are going to run tomorrow morning will make you far more likely to do it than waiting around for the perfect time during the day. Remember, you will find it far easier to cope with family politics and holiday traffic if you are getting your 'me' time in.
