We all know that exercise is a great way to regulate your sleep-wake cycle. Exercise fights all the baddies that often cause sleep disorders like sleep apnea, anxiety, aches and pains and snoring. To help you sleep better, we have been covering different ways to exercise from the comfort of your home. In May, we checked out some yoga moves; in June, some dance moves and in July, some Ab Workouts to lose belly fat.
This month, we give you a less strenuous option to fight aches and pains and improve posture.... Pilates.
Pilates is an exercise form created by German-born Joseph Pilates in the early 20th century. Pilates studied and practiced this discipline in both the US and UK and it grew in popularity. He based it on six 'Principles of Pilates' namely concentration, control, center, flow, precision, and breathing. Those who practice the discipline believe in the strong connection between physical and mental health.
Today, it is a world-wide exercise phenomenon practiced by celebrities, sports people and housewives in gyms, physiotherapy practices and of course in people's homes.
This month we feature a POP Pilates workout from Blogilates. POP pilates is fun - it's pilates done to Pop music rather than the traditional babbling brook. This workout is designed for beginners but it is also suitable for regular Pilates-doers who need to check that they are using the correct form and breathing technique.
Here is to sleeping better with no more aches and pains!
