Maybe this post should have been titled: "What I'll be doing this weekend in Johannesburg." This will be my first work-free weekend in my favourrite city in the world in a while and let's just say my diary is packed with things to do and places to see.
Saturday will be mainly for relaxation, catching up with my friends and taking it easy. There's no better way to do that than meting for an organic breakfast at the Neighbourgoods market in Braamfontein. For the longest time Braamfontein was home to me both with school and my social life.
Neighbourgoods is a market, which happens every Saturday morning from 09h00 - 15h00 at 73 Juta. I haven't been to the market since a Jo'burg edition was opened in 2011, it's going to be a treat.
I may have exaggerated the bit about my diary being full as I have nothing solid planned after the market but knowing my friends I'm certain it will include shoes and new frocks and will end on the deck of our favorite tall Sandton building drinking in the views and sundowners.
This is the weekend I truly revisit the city. I have my mid set on making my way back into Main Street Life, after many months of absence. It's one of my favourite places and my preferred way to spend a Sunday; aside from watching movies in my pyjamas all day, that is. First I'll spend the remainder of the morning walking through stalls and sampling good food and drink at Market on Main. Maybe buy a few items from my favorite stall owned by the lovely Maria McCloy. The rest of the afternoon will be spent taking in the live acts at Arts on Main, they never disappoint.
It's unfortunate that I will be unable to go to the night market (held every first Thursday of each month at Market on Main) tonight.
What will you be doing in your city this weekend? If you're in Jo'burg, what do you think I should do with my next free weekend, if I ever have one in this city again?
